New Born Owly Hat



I'm so excited to share this cute crochet owl hat pattern for new born babies that I made yesterday. I made this for my future niece. Well I'm hoping it's a girl. My sister is 2 months pregnant and were excited to have another baby in the family. I'm quite sure I'll be busy crocheting some cute stuffs for this baby. Maybe I'm just so excited because I have another model for my crochet projects. LOL

Here's the pattern...



Materials Needed:

worsted weight yarn
        peach
        white
        orange
        lavender
        black
5.5 mm crochet hook
3.5 mm crochet hook
yarn cutter


Dimensions:
                 circumference - 12-13 " 
                  height       -   5" including earflaps


Notes: When joining the hat always make a slip stitch on the 3rd chain of your chain 3

           Use a size I (5.5 mm) crochet hook for the hat and a size E(3.5 mm) crochet hook for the eyes and beak


Instructions

 Hat






Use Peach Yarn


Round 1: Magic Ring, Chain 3, 9 DC in magic ring, join, (10DC)

Round 2: Chain 3 counts as a DC,DC in the same stitch, 2 DC in each around,join, (20 DC)

Round 3: Chain 3,DC in same stitch, DC in next, (DC inc, DC in the next)* repeat 8 times, join, (30 DC)

Round 4: Chain 3, DC in same stitch, DC in next 4, (DC inc, DC in next 4 )* repeat 4 times, join,  (36 DC)

Round 5-10:  Chain 3, 36 DC, join (36 DC)

Don't fasten off, start working on the earflaps.



Earflap 1:


Row 1: 6 SC, turn


Row 2: Chain 1, SC dec, 2 SC, SC dec, turn

Row 3: Chain 1, 4 SC, turn

Row 4: Chain 1, 2 SC decreases, turn

Row 5: Chain 1, 2 SC

Fasten Off. Weave ends



Earflap 2:


Row 1: count 13 stitches from your 1st earflap, 6 SC, turn


Row 2: Chain 1, SC dec, 2 SC, SC dec, turn

Row 3: Chain 1, 4 SC, turn

Row 4: Chain 1, 2 SC decreases, turn

Row 5: Chain 1, 2 SC

Fasten Off. Weave ends


SC on the edges using a white yarn


Braids:


Cut 4 strands of white yarn and 2 strands of peach yarn ( 12" each )


Fold them in half and pull the folded side with a hook to the center bottom part of the earflap.

Pull the ends of the yarn to the loop.

Divide the strands in 3 parts. Start braiding.

Tie a knot to finish.


Eyes:





Left Eye

Use White Yarn

Round 1: Magic Ring, Chain 3, 10 DC on chain, slip stitch to the 3rd chain of your chain 3 (10 DC)

Round 2:  Chain 1, SC in same stitch, 2 SC in each stitch around (20 SC made)

Round 3:  Chain 3, DC in same stitch, 2 DC in each stitch around (40 DC made)

Leave a tail for sewing

Sew the eyebrows using a black yarn





Right Eye 

Round 1: Use black yarn, magic ring, Chain 3, 10 DC on chain, slip stitch to the 3rd chain of your chain 3 (10 DC)

Round 2:  Change to lavender yarn, Chain 1, SC in same stitch, 2 SC in each stitch around (20 SC made)

Round 3:  Change to white yarn, Chain 3, DC in same stitch, 2 DC in each stitch around (40 DC made)

Leave a tail for sewing






Beak:


Use orange yarn

Row 1: Chain 9, SC in the 2nd chain from hook, 7 SC, turn (8 SC)

Row 2: Chain 1 , 8 SC, turn (8 SC)

Row 3: Chain 1, SC dec, 4 SC, SC dec, turn (6 SC)

Row 4: Chain 1, 6 SC, turn (6 SC)

Row 5: Chain 1, SC dec, 2 SC, SC dec, turn (4 SC)


Row 6: Chain 1, 4 SC, turn (4 SC)

Row 7: Chain 1, 2 SC dec

Leave a tail for sewing




Pom pom

Join a strand of a white and orange yarn and wrap it around your hand 10 times. Cut the yarn and hold the end. Squeeze it through the 3rd round of the hat and tie it together with a yarn. Do the same for the second pom pom.

Minion Carl as an Office Worker Free Cross Stitch Pattern






This is Carl, the one eyed,minion as an Office Worker. Minions are known to be very hardworking creatures which is an irony to this cross stitch pattern.In Despicable Me 2 he was famous for his quote "Bee-Do, Bee-Do Bee-Do".He appeared as the fire siren that says "Bee do bee do" with Josh and Jorge dressed as firemen extinguishing the fire when Gru's office catches on fire.

Pretty Crocodile Stitch Purse


Hi, I'm back for another free crochet pattern as promised. I would like to share this adorable crocodile stitch bag with you. I made a black one for our convention but when I took pictures for the tutorial the stitches were barely visible. I decided to make another one in pink and white. I was really happy with the outcome. It turned out great. It's so adorable and much prettier than my first one.  I made a photo tutorial for this pattern and I hope you find it easier to follow. 




Here's the pattern:


Supplies Needed:


Worsted Weight Yarn (pink and white)
5.5 mm crochet hook
yarn cutter
tapestry needle
crystal buttons
zipper



Chain 70, Slip stitch to the first chain


Chain 3, Counts as a DC


DC all your way around


70 DC made, slip stitch to the 3rd chain of your Chain 3


Chain 1


Yarn Over


Insert your hook on the first post (Chain 3 post) to make a DC


Make 5 DC on the post 


Chain 1


Turn your work to this position


Insert your hook on the second DC post


Work a 5 DC on the second DC post


Chain 1


Skip 5 DC posts 


Make 5 DC on post


Chain 1


Turn your work, yarn over and insert hook to the next DC post


Make 5 DC, Chain 1, 2 crocodile stitches made.
 Continue to make crocodile stitches all your way around, 
(Skip 5 DC, 5 DC on the post, Chain 1, turn your work 
make 5 DC on the next DC post, Chain 1) 


Slip stitch, Chain 3


Continue to work DC all your way around, 70 DC made


Slip stitch to the 3rd chain of Chain 3, Chain 1


Yarn over, Insert hook in the Chain 3 post


5 DC in the post, Chain 1


Turn your work over, Insert hook on next DC post, 
Make 5 DC on post, Chain 1Skip 5 DC posts, 
Continue to make crocodile stitches all your way around


Make 2 more crocodile stitches rows as shown above, 
Change to white color, Chain 3, DC all your way around, 
slip stitch to the 3rd chain of Chain 3, 70 DC made


Chain 3, DC decrease all your way around


Watch this video tutorial on how to make a dc dec, 
also known as dc2tog


On the next 2 rows: (Chain 3, Double Crochet around, 
slip stitch to 3rd chain of chain 3)
Fasten Off, Weave on ends.


Sew the bottom


Attach a zipper and crystal buttons for the accent
