3D Heart Granny Square Baby Blanket – Free Crochet Pattern

Hi guys, It’s been a long time since I’ve been gone. I had so much to do with my work and can’t find time to finish my crochet projects. I had a long break last holy week and I was able to finish the video tutorial and written pattern. I have made this 3d heart granny square baby blanket for my 5 month pregnant belly. Yes I’m expecting my second baby and I really think it’s a girl. I’ve had my  ultrasound exam but the doctor can’t tell its gender because its umbilical cord is blocking it. I just hope it’s a girl. I’m just so excited to have a new baby in the family. I can’t wait to see my baby with this blanket. This is my first crochet blanket pattern and I’m glad that it turned out great. Materials Needed:

Red Heart Soft: 2 balls each 6768 Pink A, 4600 White B
5.5 mm. crochet hook
yarn needle, pair of scissors

Abbreviations:

Ch – Chain
SC – Single Crochet
DC – Double Crochet
HDC – Half Double Crochet
TR – Triple Crochet
sl st – slip stitch
st(s) – stitch(es)
beg – beginning

Gauge:

Each granny square measures 4″ x 4″
The finished blanket measures 24″ x 24″

Crochet Pattern:

Round 1: with A make a magic ring leaving a 6 inch tail
insert your hook in the ring, yarn over and grab your yarn
Chain 2 (counts as a DC)
Make 8 DC into the ring
pull the tail to tighten the ring
sl st on top of the beg Ch 2
Round 1: 9 sts

Round 2: Chain 3 (in this round we’ll be working in the front loops only)
3 TR in the next,
2 DC in next,
2 HDC in next
2 SC in next,
Ch 2,
2 SC in next,
2 HDC in next,

Round 3: (work on the 8 back loops of the second round)

Still remember my starfish crochet roundup last month? Which one was your favorite? My favorite was the Starfish Stole from Georgia Yarns so I decided to try out the pattern and I really love it. The written pattern was really  easy to follow and for the fact that I love to read diagrams It was a breeze for me to follow since a diagram was also available on the pattern. I used the pattern to make this lovely starfish headbands for my nieces. Instead of working across I tweaked the pattern a little bit to work in the rounds. I love how it turned out and my nieces love to wear it. How to Crochet a Heart – Video Tutorial

Hi there my fellow crocheters, I’m so happy to be back to share another video tutorial. Today I’m going to show you how to crochet a heart. Valentines is almost here so this project is so perfect for the occasion. You can choose any color that you want with this project. I have used a red, blue and pink yarn. You can use this heart for greetings cards, appliques for your crochet projects and also as a garland and any other Valentine craft ideas that you can think of. For the written tutorial just follow the instructions below:

 

Materials Needed:

4mm crochet hook

DK weight yarn (color of your choice)

yarn cutter / scissor

 

Instructions:

Make a Magic Ring

Round 1: Working on the ring (Chain 3, Triple Crochet 3 times, Double Crochet 2 times, Chain 1, Double Crochet 2 times, Triple Crochet 3 times, Chain 3, Slip Stitch into the ring, Cut the yarn to your desired length if you will use it as an applique for your other crochet project.

Bring the yarn end to the back by inserting it to the ring. Hold that part with your right hand and grab the other yarn to tighten the motif and to avoid holes on the heart. Tie the two yarns at the back, there’s no need to weave ends.

When I checked my youtube channel I’m very glad to see that I already have 145 subscribers. It’s not that much but for me it’s such a wonderful achievement. Materials Needed:

Wosted weight yarn

3.75 mm hook

Crochet thread and 1.3 mm hook for the smaller flower

Yarn cutter

 

Abbreviations:

SC – single crochet

DC – double crochet

TR – triple crochet/treble crochet

 

Instructions:

Round 1: Make a magic ring. Chain 2 (acts as a DC), DC on ring, Chain 1, (2 DC in ring, Chain 1)* repeat 4 times, slip stitch

Round 2: Working on the Chain 1 spaces (SC, DC, Chain 1, TR, Chain 1, DC, SC)* repeat 5 times, slip stitch

Fasten off and weave ends.

4 sts = 1″ 
 
 
Bootie Sole Length: 
 
7-8 cm / 3 inches
 
 
Abbreviations:

 

SC = single crochet

hdc = half double crochet

DC = double crochet

TR = treble/triple crochet

sl st = slip stitch

sts = stitches

 

Pattern

 

Bootie (make 2)

Using Black DK weight yarn, Chain 10

Round 1: 2 hdc in 3rd chain from hook, hdc in the next 6 ch, 6 hdc in last chain, turn and continue working on the opposite side of your foundation chain, hdc in the next 6 chain, 3 hdc in last chain, sl st at the top of the beginning ch 2 = 24 sts

Change to Orange Yarn

Change to Orange Yarn

Round 4: Ch 2, hdc in next 9 sts, [hdc2tog over next 2 sts] 8 times, hdc in next 10 sts; sl st in top of beginning ch 2 = 28 sts

Change to Black Yarn

Round 5: Ch 2, hdc in next 9 sts, [dc2tog over next 2 sts] 4 times, hdc in next 10 sts; join with a slip st in top of beginning ch 2 = 24 sts

Change to Orange Yarn

Round 6: Ch 2, hdc in next 9 sts, [dc2tog over next 2 sts] twice, hdc in next 10 sts; join with a slip st in top of beginning ch 2 = 22 sts.

Fasten off.

 

Flower (make 2)

Use White Yarn

Magic Ring, chain 1, [SC, DC, TR, DC, SC] 5 times, adjust the ring’s yarn end tight to form the flower. Fasten off and leave tail for sewing.

I’ve been busy with another paperwork and I haven’t posted in a while. It’s time to relax after a stressful week and crocheting is quite a stress reliever. I made this simple yet beautiful pumpkin inspired coin purse yesterday and I’m sharing the pattern here. I hope you like how it turned out. Here’s the pattern:

 

Materials Needed:

#3 DK Weight: Light Worsted Weight Yarn (Orange and Green)

3.75 mm crochet hook 

yarn cutter

 

Gauge:

5 DC sts = 1″

 

Finished Item Dimensions: 

diameter = 3.60”

 

Abbreviations:

SC = single crochet

DC = double crochet

inc. = increase  (two stitches in same)

sl st = slip stitch

sts = stitches

 

Pattern:

Purse (Make 2)

Round 1: Magic Ring, Chain 2 (doesn’t count as a DC), make 10 DC in ring, sl st to first DC (10 sts)

Round 2: Chain 2, DC inc. in the next stitch, DC inc. in all stitch around, sl st to first stitch of the round (20 sts)

Round 3: Chain 2, ( DC inc. in the next stitch, DC in the next )* repeat around, sl st to the first stitch of the round (30 sts)

Round 4: Chain 2, ( DC inc. in the next stitch, DC in the next 2 stitches )* repeat around, sl st to the first stitch of the round (40 sts)
