I’ve been so busy with my freelance work and I couldn’t find time to crochet. Yesterday I just feel like crocheting and this cute little octopus amigurumi came out of my mind. I was happy with the finished project. It turned out cute and it’s quite a stress reliever. I’m glad to share this pattern with you. I hope you like it.
Materials Needed:
Worsted Weight Yarn in Light Yellow
3.5 mm steel hook
Crochet Thread in black,white and blue for the eyes and mouth
1.3 mm steel hook
Tapestry Needle
Yarn Cutter
Poly Fill
Finished item dimensions:
height: 2“
width: 2.5″
Crochet Abbreviations:
SC – single crochet
dec – decrease
inc – increase
Instructions:
Body
Using Worsted Weight Yarn in Light Yellow
Round 1: Magic Circle with a base of 6 stitches
Round 2: SC inc in each stitch around= 12 sts
Round 3: (SC increase, SC in next)* repeat 6 times around = 18 sts
Round 4: (SC inc, SC in next 2 sts) * repeat 6 times around = 24 sts
Round 5: (SC inc, SC in next 3 sts) * repeat 6 times around = 30 sts
Round 6: (SC inc, SC in next 4 sts) * repeat 6 times around = 36 sts
Round 7: (SC inc, SC in next 5 stitches)* repeat 6 times around =42 sts
Round 8: SC in the next 42 stitches = 42 stitches
Round 9: (SC dec, SC in next 5 sts) * repeat 6 times around = 36 sts
Round 10: (SC dec, SC in next 4 sts) * repeat 6 times around = 30 sts
Round 11: (SC dec, SC in next 3 sts) * repeat 6 times around = 24 sts
Stuff body with Poly Fill and continue stuffing as you go.
Round 12: (SC dec, SC in next 2 sts )* repeat 6 times around = 18 sts
Round 13: SC dec in each stitch around= 12 sts
Round 14: 6 SC around Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing. Sew the body shut.
Tentacles (make 8)
Using Worsted Weight Yarn in Light Yellow
Round 1: Magic Circle with a base of 6 stitches
Round 2: SC inc in each stitch around= 12 sts
Round 3-6: SC in each stitch around = 12 stitches Stuff with Poly Fill
Round 7: SC dec in each stitch around= 6 stitches
Leave a tail for sewing the tentacles to the 2nd and 3rd round of the body.
Eyes
Use black crochet thread
Round 1: Magic Circle with a base of 6 stitches
Change to blue crochet thread
Round 2: SC inc in each stitch around= 12 sts
leave a tail to sew the eyes to the 7th and 9th round of the body
Before sewing the eyes to the body, sew a white crochet thread to the eyes as shown on the picture above.
Mouth
Sew a black crochet thread for the mouth on the 5th round of the body.
