I made a pokeball hat for my 3 year old son who loves Pokemon. I made a toddler size hat but you can use a smaller crochet hook for a newborn to baby size. This is a simple crochet pattern but looks very cute on your baby. I bet you have a red, black and white worsted weight yarn. What are you waiting for crohet this hat for your little ones. Materials Needed:
worsted weight yarn, i used red heart with love in white, black and holly berry
6 mm. crochet hook
pair of scissors
yarn needle
Abbreviations:
CH = chain
SC = single crochet
SC inc = single crochet increase (make 2 SC in same stitch)
DC = double crochet
DC Inc = double crochet increase (make 2 DC in same stitch)
sts = stitches
join = slip stitch on the 3rd chain of the beginning chain 3
slip stitch on the 2nd chain of the beginning chain 2
Hat Pattern:
Use red yarn
Round 1: Magic Ring, Ch 3, counts as a DC, 9 DC in magic ring, join, (10 sts)
Round 2: Ch 3, counts as a DC, DC in the same stitch, DC Inc in each stitch around,join, (20 sts)
Round 3: Ch 3, counts as a DC, DC in same stitch, DC in next, (DC Inc, DC in the next)* repeat around, join, (30 sts)
Round 4: Ch3, counts as a DC, DC in same stitch, DC in next 2, (DC Inc, DC in next 2)* repeat around, join, (40 sts)
Round 5: Ch 3, counts as a DC, DC in same stitch, DC in next 3, (DC Inc, DC in next 3)* repeat around, join, (50 sts)
Round 6: Ch 3, counts as a DC, DC in same stitch, DC in next 9, (DC Inc, DC in next 9)* repeat around, join, (55 sts)
Round 7-9: Ch 3, counts as a DC, DC 54, join, (55 sts)
Change to black yarn
Round 10: Ch 2, counts as a SC, SC 54, join, (55 sts)
Change to white yarn
Round 11-13: Ch 3, counts as a DC, DC 54, join, (55 sts)
Round 14: Ch 2, counts as a SC, SC 54, join, (55 sts)
Fasten off. Weave Ends.
Embellishment Pattern:
Use white yarn
Round 1: Magic Ring, Ch 3,counts as a DC, 9 DC in magic ring, join, (10 sts)
Round 2: Ch 3, counts as a DC, DC in the same stitch, DC Inc in each stitch around,join, (20 sts)
Change to black yarn
Round 3: Ch 2, SC in same stitch, SC in next, (SC Inc, SC in the next)* repeat around, join, (30 sts)
Button Pattern:
Use white yarn
Round 1: Magic Ring, Ch 3, counts as a DC, 9 DC in magic ring, join, (10 sts)
Assembly:
Sew the button to the center of the embellishment.
Sew the embellishment to the hat around the 8th to 13th round. Fasten Off.
